Topic-icon Is there a way to change textures in Minecraft?

3 weeks 4 days ago #5414 by Name
Guys, I got so burned out playing these fantasy games that I decided to try something else. Figured I'd see what everyone's so obsessed with Minecraft for. I've been playing it for two months now and the game's awesome. It's this huge world you don't even want to log off from. But the original textures just aren't doing it for me, sometimes it actually hurts my eyes looking at it. Is there any way to change those? Anyone here play this and know any tricks like that?

Minecraft's default textures are pretty low res, that's probably what's bugging your eyes. You can grab resource packs through CurseForge or right in the launcher under the resource packs tab. Faithful keeps the same look but sharper, John Smith Legacy goes more detailed and medieval if you want a bigger change.

The eye strain thing especially makes sense once you've put real hours in, those low res default textures start grating on you way more after the first couple weeks compared to when everything was still new. You can browse a lineup of Minecraft texture packs here: packsmc.com/ . They're sorted by style so you can jump straight to whatever fits, whether that's something closer to realistic or just a cleaner sharper version of the original look. Most come with simple install instructions right on the page so you're not digging through folders trying to figure out where files go.
