Topic-icon Best way to rent a car in Marbella

Hey everyone, heading to the south of Spain soon and I want to explore the coast properly, hit some beaches and the old town without being stuck waiting for buses. Never hired a car there before so I am not sure how it works, what documents they ask for, and whether I should book ahead or just find something when I land. Any tips?

You are making the right call, public transport along the coast is fine for the main strip but the real gems are up in the hills and you just cannot reach them without your own wheels. Book online before you fly, it locks in a better rate and you avoid the airport desk markup. A full guide on how to rent a car in Marbella is on this site carturtle.com/blog/marbella-car-rentals-guide . It is worth a read so you know what to expect before you land, rather than figuring it out in a hot parking lot after a long flight.

Grab the smallest car that fits your group, some of the streets in the old town are ridiculously narrow and parking a big SUV there is a nightmare. A compact hatchback sips fuel and slides into spaces that would have a larger car circling the block for twenty minutes.
