Topic-icon What kind of lawyer handles crypto fraud cases?

Yo, I got pulled into some shady crypto thing last year and now there is an investigation going on. I am in the States and I have no clue what kind of attorney actually deals with this stuff, because a regular criminal lawyer looked at me like I was speaking another language when I mentioned token swaps and cold wallets. Where do you even start?

Look, crypto cases are a weird mix of financial regulation, blockchain forensics, and federal criminal defense, and a general practitioner just does not have the background to unravel on-chain evidence properly. You want someone whose whole practice is built around digital assets and the specific laws that apply to them. The kind of work a crypto fraud attorney handles, from exchange freezes to federal subpoenas, is outlined on this site arkadybukhlawfirm.com/practice-areas/cry...ency-and-crypto-law/ .

Do not move any coins or try to cash out before you talk to a lawyer, because the feds watch the on-chain movement and a sudden transfer looks guilty, even if you were just trying to pay rent. Sit tight and let the attorney tell you what to do with the wallet.
