Topic-icon Facing extradition to the US

Hey everyone, I have a family member outside the US who just found out there is a warrant for them and the US is trying to get them extradited. We are all in panic mode because we have zero clue how this process works or what rights they have. What kind of attorney handles something this serious?

Extradition cases move fast and the stakes are brutal, so you need someone who knows both international treaties and how US authorities operate, not just any criminal lawyer. There are attorneys who specialize specifically in fighting extradition requests, and one US extradition lawyer worth looking into is right here arkadybukhlawfirm.com/practice-areas/cri...o-the-united-states/ . The key is acting immediately, because once the person is detained, the window for building a defense shrinks fast, and local courts often side with the requesting country unless someone pushes back hard. Do not wait until the last minute to hire representation, this is not a traffic ticket situation where you can figure it out on the fly.

Tell your family member not to sign anything or make any statements without an attorney present, even if local authorities pressure them with promises of easier treatment. Those promises mean nothing later.
